IN SEARCH OF MY OWN STYLES

I have been making styles from midi for 11 years now, and have made these for many different models.
This has resulted in me having over 11,000 working files for my styles made with EMC Style Works XT.

Finding a desired working file is pure detective work - I have to base my search on the date a style was made.

Then the problems start to pile up - most styles are made for Pa3X and Tyros4, and a lot of these have been lost in crashes both in forums and hard drives.

I often only have the working files, and these often only have a number that gives no reference to the name.
I therefore have to open one by one the working files and listen through each one in Style Works.

Fortunately, I have also recorded many styles, so I can use their date as a reference for searching.

This is almost like a treasure hunt; because sometimes I find something that is really good, but I have to work very systematically to know what I have gone through and what I have not.


A very good feature with Style Works is that even if the midi file is lost, it is stored hidden in the working file.

I will never stop making styles with Style Works, because Style Bot when this becomes available is (as far as I know) locked to automatic selection of all sequences, and will never be able to do this manually like I do.

Yes - it's almost like panning for gold in Australia - the nuggets are lying on the ground, ready to be picked up !

I have many styles that I have started but never quite finished, simply because that's often how I work with good ideas.
