THE JUDGMENT OF EXPERIENCE

THE JUDGMENT OF EXPERIENCE

Most keyboards I've had have lost their initial positive impression after a while of use.

It almost always happens the same way; after trying various edits, it turns out to be less good than originally thought.

If I had been one of those who only plays everything that is finished and has no need to edit, most keyboards would have turned out to be good, but I'm not like that - I want to create my own styles - MY way.

Therefore, the possibilities for editing are of decisive importance for my final judgment.

Absolutely NO keyboard has come close to the Pa5X in terms of the possibilities for editing the way I want them, and the Pa5X is the only one that still has an increasing value; it gets better every day I use it.

The Audya is the closest, but still far from the Pa5X.

The Tyros1 was a big disappointment with its far too few drum kits.

The PSR-3000 was also a big disappointment.

The 9000 Pro immediately appeared to be very good, but is losing ground every day, largely due to an idiotic tempo control system - only TAP is available, and this is impossible to handle. The tempo is almost always wrong when a new style is started; it has the same tempo as the last one played.

It seems that RGT must be used for every style, which I don't like.
Effects are also simply too bad; they don't sound natural.
The 9000 Pro sounds best DRY.

Despite this, it remains in my stable, as it has other qualities such as the best keybed and a very open sound image.

The Pa5X remains at the top without any competitor due to its superior editing capabilities and superb effects.

I've been thinking the same thing.
What if Korg makes simpler versions of the Pa5X ?
Such a model would have knocked out the entire market.

Yamaha hasn't managed this with their latest additions SX-720 and SX-920.
They are simply too expensive, and it's more than strange that no one has said this.

It was said that the Pa5X was too expensive, but I strongly disagree with this.

My DGX670 sounds better everyday...that's the days when my ears behave.
The rest of me is dropping to pieces but thats another story.

I'm very surprised at my aging years 87 that my ears are still very critical and good at detecting small sound changes...I consider myself one of the lucky ones.

A new brain transplant could give me another 90 years !!!

@Graham

Your ears don't lie - the DGX-670 is the best Yamaha I've ever owned.
I was actually about to buy one recently, but finances got in the way due to both cars having to be scrapped and a new one being purchased.
It's very likely that I'll be buying a brand new one sooner or later.

You have some very unusual ears, working so well at the age of 87.
I have them too, but I'm only 62 - I hope they hold up.

I don't know anyone my age who hears what I do, and the older ones use hearing aids.
Except for you, then...
I feel extremely lucky to be able to pick up every detail at a very low volume, but this is also due to my sound system - even at very low volumes all the details are there.

By the way, your brain works brilliantly - science should have copied it and transplanted the copy into suitable individuals for the benefit of future humanity.
