THE ADVANTAGE OF USING GENUINE AMBIENCE ON DRUMS

The Drum Editor on later Korg Pa models allows for individual settings for a kit's elements - Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Tom, Hi Hat, Cymbal, Perc Low, Perc High and SFX.

Traditional Reverb (or others) provides a common value for all elements, and at best Reverb Room provides the possibility to adjust Low/High Pre EQ Fc +/- 15.0.

This provides some control, but the kit's lower frequencies will often end up with too much reverb, effectively destroying the Bass Drum's punch; the stroke becomes imprecise and indistinct.

In addition:
All reverb effects are artificial, while Ambience with Drum Editor is genuine, and consists of actual recorded ambience for each drum element.

So if you're looking for real ambience, Drum Editor is the only right tool.

Not all kits have genuine ambience recorded, but all AMB and RR kits do, plus several GM/XG kits, which actually have more ambience than AMB and RR kits.

Genos2 has a slider-based ambience effect (much like Reverb Room), but this has a common effect on all the drum kit's elements, which works very poorly for Bass Drums.

Korg's Drum Editor is the best choice.
