That Endless Tweaking Cycle
#1
It’s so easy with our arranger keyboards to get into an endless tweaking cycle, be it for styles, sounds, effects etc etc.

How often have you got something sounding great and then coming back the next day or a few days later and you think it just doesn’t sound right and go back and tweak some more.

How do you know when to stop tweaking and comit by saving?
General Music WK4, Technics Kn5000, Solton Ms60, Yamaha Psr K1, Tyros 4, Korg Pa50sd and Korg Pa700, Korg Pa5x Paas Mk2 Speaker and Yamaha Genos

A while ago I mentioned our hearing changes day to day and is affected by one's health plus others.

My hearing has been slowly improving from early school days.
After being employed in the speaker business my hearing then developed into overdrive.

Fortunately even now approaching 90 years my hearing is surprisingly good.

Be thankful that you have the ability to hear these changes in sound, you are one of the lucky ones.
Many people can't hear differences in sound.

I experience this all the time, but with a good number of exceptions:

The styles that have OK tweaks are always good, even many years later with other equipment connected.

The styles that have bad tweaks will give varying experiences, and most often negative, and guaranteed if the connected equipment changes.

The reason for bad tweaks is usually (in my cases) that the tweak has been made unnecessarily complex.
It is always the simple tweaks that win.

It is strange to note that my earliest tweaks are almost exclusively among my best, and they were all simple in their form.

So my rule has become:
Make tweaks as simple as possible.

What ⚅Graham says is also important to note.
Shared knowledge provides increased knowledge
If we all share everything we have, we all have everything
Every theory is only a hypothesis until it is practically proven

I don't know if others find this, but I find that when I have got something set up perfectly for one particular song .. using the same setup in another song just doesn't sound right, so its back to the drawing board and I end up tweaking it differently.

It's all about the music!
