Sending viewers to a specific post.
When you visit a Thread, the URL (Web Address) shows at the top of the screen.
If you click on the Address Bar (left-click) it will highlight it blue.
You can then do a right-click and in the drop-down box choose Copy (or do a Ctrl + C on the keypad) ... which will then copy this web address to your clipboard (ie. the computer’s ‘memory’).
You can then place the URL where you want it by clicking in your post and doing a Paste (right-click, then Paste; or Ctrl + V on the keypad).
I have done this below, so clicking on this will take you to my topic on MULTITRACKING using the AUDIO RECORDER.

Now ...
Suppose that you want to send someone to a specific post rather than to the beginning of the topic (eg. to point something out).
First find the post you want to send them to.
If you look in the top right hand corner you will see this symbol ...
... and if you hover your mouse over it you will see the Thread Name.
With the mouse cursor over the top of that symbol, do a right-click, and in the drop-down box that appears choose Copy link address (left-click).
You can then Paste this link address where you want it by clicking in your post and doing a Paste (right-click, then Paste; or Ctrl + V on the keypad).
I have done this below, so clicking on this will take you to the specific post in my topic on MULTITRACKING using the AUDIO RECORDER that I wanted you to go to ie. not to the beginning of the topic.

Once you have got to where in the topic I wanted you to go to, you can then scroll up or down to look at the rest of it.
In another forum setup I am aware of, once you have arrived at your destination you can only see that one post ie. you cannot scroll and look at any other part of the topic. Chello has done very well here to have a forum program where you can be sent specifically to a certain place .. but then have access to the rest of what has been said in that thread.
So if you are wanting to cross reference what you are saying with something that was said in another part of the forum, you can do that. For example, if I was talking about turning a MIDI file into a STYLE .. here is a reference for doing this.
