As I was growing up I had two main ‘hobbies’ .. Electronics and Music (playing piano).  I would get magazines every month and the electronics one would give me circuit diagrams of eg. amplifiers etc.  Everything in this magazine gave you explanations and instructions, and I would describe the content as being ‘complete’.  But the music one inevitably would give me a music score to play, which was not much use to me as I didn’t read music.  And any topics to do with music seemed to be a ‘guessing game’, as one could never hear any of the musical points they were discussing. It was a paper magazine!  As the years wore on, they started introducing CDs with the magazine so you could hear some of the music being discussed.

And then the internet came along, and I thought, “Brilliant!  Now we can talk about music and actually get to listen to the music being discussed as we go along!”  And this is what I am doing when I put up topics in this area.  No point just talking about music!  Let’s get to listen to it as we are discussing it!

Now it just so happens that WORD documents contain not only the written word, but can also contain images, and if one puts in a LINK to some music it will take you there to listen.  Particularly if the WORD document is in a storage area like BOX, where they open the document from their server ie. you don’t have to subscribe to Microsoft Office yourself to open the document and follow it through.

So whenever you see a new thread go up, take a look and read through the topic I have put up, listening to the music clips as you go along.  The explanations and screen shots are from my Tyros 4, and I have resourced the music clips from various places, so you will not know the people who have played them (unless it’s me!).  I have chosen music clips that best illustrate the points I am trying to make.

Lastly, although all this is based on the Tyros 4, any of the Yamaha keyboards will cover the same things.  It’s just a question of going down a different route, maybe by pressing the screen rather than pressing buttons, but you should be able to end up at the same place.

It's all about the music!
