MY EXPERIENCE CONVERTING TO PA5X SO FAR
To be very clear:
It has never been as simple and unproblematic as with Pa5X.
Korg are very moderate with what they guarantee when they say that only original SETs from Pa4X can be converted and guaranteed to work 100%; I have converted many SETs from models such as the Pa2X that work better than what they did on the Pa3X and Pa4X.
One example is the Dynamix Pro SET, which for the first time works properly.
However, there is something I am not thrilled about, and that is that, for example, drum kits from one model are overwritten when kits from another model are imported.
In any case, I have found a solution to this, which consists in copying relevant kits to UserDK3, which do not appear to be used during import - everything remains untouched in UserDK3.
This is probably due to the fact that only a few SETs have so many drum kits that it is necessary to use UserDK3.
If I take care to avoid importing new kits into UserDK3, this will never be touched or changed during import.
Maybe I'm wrong, but it works so far.

I totally agree with what you say, I put those Drum sets you discovered for your Fx styles and voila the drums were back, what wasn`t back unfortunately was some of your effects which i kinds worked on.
I remember you once said the keyboard was intuitive, well i kind of agree with you. The uptown funk that i edited to include a voice wouldn`t save and every time i retried the element changed sound, as though searching for the right one.
I wonder as i introduce new packages something happens there.
Any way I was pleased your work wasn`t ruined as some great styles.
Qui helped me yesterday in relation too importing songbook, including qui own songbook, however this appeared to overwrite the previous songbook.
So the question is can you add to a songbook `like the video showed` on u tube
Has anyone managed to install the PA4X set as mine just crashes the keyboard
The sound levels are still a problem in some styles, anyway of altering, other than at startup
I did say the abilities of the PA5X are immense but the basic function flaws still remain.
Such as picking your Favourite sounds, you can`t test which instrument you prefer you have to pick the sound and exit before it changes the existing sound?
I hope Korg continues to evolve the keyboard as at its best it overshadows all else.
Yamaha in usa have reduced the genos price by 1000 and an engineer friend of mine says the genos 2 is out in October.
whether that is true or not just cos they make a new model doesn`t necesarily mean it will be step forward and the price tag may be prohibitive, the example being the cvp809 being replaced with an cvp909 with almost no noticeable differences
other than the price tag, we shall see.

This has its simple explanation in that different drum kits have different drum elements that are active - when you change a kit, active elements also change.

Yes, something can change.
A new songbook replaces the old one, and new sounds replace the old ones, but the system sounds themselves are protected.
This was not the case with earlier models, as some SETs overwrote and replaced some of the system's sounds.
It should be relatively easy for Korg's programmers to ensure that new packages do not overwrite old ones, but whether this is changed is another matter.

On the pa5x we have one songbook, now when we want to add certain songs to this pa5x songbook there is a simple procedure for this.
Adding songs to the songbook:
- press the FILE button
- select the KST file on your disk that contains the songbook which has songs that you want to add to your Pa5X songbook
- browse to the songbook in that KST file and press the SDB file to open that songbook
- now you see all the songs that are in that KST songbook
- select the songs that you want to add to your internal Pa5X songbook (you can select all, or multiple while holding shift, or just press on one song)
- press the menu icon on the right top of your screen and press load
Now the songs are added to the internal songbook of your pa5x.
Personally i think Korg made the right descision to do it this way. Otherwise your internal Pa5X songbook would get rather big with all kind of unwanted songs in them when you convert several Set files from various sources.
Now it's just like your personal song journal where you have full control over what kind of song pages you are adding.

Thanks again for your efficient help.
The procedure you describe is foolproof, and I completely agree that this is the right decision by Korg.
If they use the same procedure for other things, everything will be easier than ever.
And we users can easily tailor our Pa5X to be exactly as we want.
