BE CAREFUL ABOUT OUTREACHING YOUR FATHER

My father always had a certain fondness for code crosswords; crosswords where only one letter was given, and the rest were found by using the knowledge that most words consist mostly of the letter E.

The words were mostly foreign words from Latin.

When I was 8-10 years old, I stood and watched while my father struggled to find a word, until I got an idea of what the right word was and said it.

After a while without commenting on what I said, he realized that I was right, but did not understand how I could know this.

What he did not know was that I had gone through all his unsolved crosswords, studied them and inserted the missing words.

When he discovered this, he was cursed, because I had "ruined" his collection of difficult crosswords and deprived him of the joy of solving them later.

After this I was strictly instructed to stay away from his crosswords, but it happened that my mother asked me for words he was missing - without his knowledge.

So my mother helped him and took the credit with the help of my knowledge, but he never found out..!
