Thanks again for this pack Chello! I played with all arranger styles in this pack and have mixed feelings. Some styles sound good, others almost unplayable with bad mixing.
The MODX is a good synthesizer but not so good arranger. I miss the dedicated intro/variation/ending buttons, the large amount of different styles and the ease to make style adjustments.
Using the excellent arranger keyboard Pa5X with the MODX for right hand voices is for me a winning combination.
Also your new 'less is more' Pa5X combo styles are really good. Never thought that making styles less busy makes that big difference.

I really appreciate this type of feedback, which says something about why something is good or not.

I have exactly the same opinion about the styles as you.
They are probably made with the built-in sequencer, and not directly from Yamaha styles.
Yamaha could really have done this better, by building in ready-made styles converted from Yamaha styles.

Korg OASYS and Kronos are better with their combinations, which have 16 buttons, while Nautilus only has 4.
It is also very easy to change all scenes on OASYS and Kronos.

MODX M's strength is undoubtedly as a synthesizer, preferably in good company with a good arranger.


And thank you very much for appreciating my Combo styles, which are the result of an idea I got after hearing styles from Grandstage X.

I have always thought that simple styles are better, but have forgotten to systematically reduce the number of active ACCs on regular styles to determine the difference.

For the same reason, older styles are better, because they have fewer ACCs and are simpler build.
They were also made universal, and not tied to a song like almost all newer styles are, which limits their use.

So I have come to the same conclusion for styles as with mixing:
The simpler, the better.

As a lifelong HiFi enthusiast, I have always been aware that the more complex the soundscape becomes, the worse the overall soundscape becomes.

Good to hear.

These styles are not good enough - they come in nice "boxes" and are extensively marketed, but are lousy made.

As you say, MODX M deserves better, and if you try the material that Yamaha has available for download, you will find a lot that is at least as good as what is available internally on MODX M.

on the subject of Narf sounds the TV and Movie pack has a lot to be desired in so much its as though they create a part set of Scenes which is bizzare

The  scenes or styles carry half of the song but not all of it, which is frustrating, if your going to sell a cover then give the full arrangement like Korg
