4 WAYS TO ACHIEVE BETTER DRUMS

* 1: Add an extra drum kit
* 2: Add an identical drum kit, and adjust this slightly differently from the other
* 3: Add effect(s) with Drum Editor on desired drum elements such as VOX Treble Booster
* 4: Use Drum Editor to add/reduce MIDDLE EQ/ LOW EQ as well as ambience on desired drum elements

1: An extra drum kit is particularly suitable for adding more punch in one or more areas, and unwanted drum elements are simply turned down to zero
2: Two identical drum kits can be insanely effective, but these often have to be adjusted slightly differently, because in many cases they do not cooperate with identical settings
3: Adding an effect (even several different ones) is a known method, but VOX Treble Booster has properties that no one else has, and especially SFX gets a new dimension with this
4: My most important tool throughout my time with the Pa5X, and something I ALWAYS use - add ambience if possible, and avoid using additional reverb

When you say add an extra drum kit is this to the percussion track or do you copy the drum track to the percussion track?

I usually copy the drum track to the percussion track, but if the percussion track is important and there is a free ACC, I place it there, so that the perc is kept.

The reason I don't add an extra drum kit to the percussion track directly is that it will then function like the perc did, and lose its purpose.

When I adapt the new drum track, I also usually change the kit, and often turn down some drum elements in it.

Korg uses a bit of the same technique when they use an electronic kit in the perc track in addition to the main kit.

Kronos often uses 3 to 4 or more drum kits, and they are all adjusted differently - each has its own working area.
That is precisely why the drum kits on Kronos are so dynamic compared to everything else.

I got the idea for how I do this by studying Kronos.

VOX Treble Booster is used as an Insert effect in Drum Editor, yes.

Unfortunately, the Pa700 does not have any VOX effects built in.

It might be possible to create a similar one by connecting several effects, but it is relatively complicated - It sits inside a chain of up to four assignable insert effects.

Although this is a specific guitar effect, it is also used professionally in drum mixing.

This is probably the closest you'll get, but it's a lot sharper, and works the opposite way in the bass range.

I’ve found it. Pa700 does have the vox treble booster effect. I’ve also ran a test on doubling the drum track, I used the 8 beat standard to test. 

It does make the drums sound more punchy and less thin than with out.

Good thing the Pa700 still had the effect.
Google AI said it didn't - never trust Google AI 100%.

Double drums are the easiest way to achieve punchy sound; much like two bass woofer units instead of one, or 6 cylinders instead of 4.
There are countless other examples.
Except for cooking - the more cooks, the more mess..!
