WHO NEEDS TEXTBOOKS, MANUALS AND TUTORIALS..?

In the last few days I have made 3 types of new pads - Expression, SFX and Drum Element pads.

I have not read the Pa5X's manual to do this, nor have I seen any tutorials.

So I have not learned this from others, and have not followed any textbook, but have pressed everything that can be pressed - what happens if..?

This shows how well the Pa5X is made.

I have been skipping around through the PA5X manual and one thing I have noticed is it is actually much better written with nicer visuals compared to the Yamaha SX series manual. In answer to your question, I would be the type of person that would need to refer to the manual often, at least in the beginning of owning a new system. This all depends of course on the person and how much motivation/skill/knowlege they have to explore the system without the manual.

Pa5X has a reasonably good manual, but many deep edits are not described at all.

I am ADHD when it comes to finding quick and effective solutions, and like to find my own, because these often work better.

Many people have asked me for help with Pa3X - they read the manual, but found no help in it.
I gave them simple descriptions based on my own experiences that they understood right away.

Unfortunately, manuals are often written by theorists who lack practical knowledge.

I think the best way to learn is to actually sit down and experiment push parameters to extremes to start with to actually hear the changes and back off. The temptation is to boost everything when actually the cause may not be because a sound is too quiet is it’s being masked by other sound(s).

I looked through the MODX M manual, but it didn't make me any wiser - in fact, it only made me more confused..!

I actually prefer Casio's manuals, even though they are notorious for their complexity; I always figure out their explanations.
