A FEW WORDS ABOUT AI AND LIKES

Too many people seem to trust that everything processed by AI is absolutely trustworthy and truthful, and often excuse their belief that AI is based on all available information, and is therefore the safest source.

THIS IS NOT AT ALL THE CASE.

The fact is that the more information that is made available, the greater the likelihood of giving a misleading answer to a question.

This applies to all topics, while many topics are controlled by the authorities; we are manipulated to believe what THEY want us to believe about a topic.

A little while ago, AI was integrated into the Google search engine, which gives completely different answers to questions than what we got before.

For example, if you ask about climate change, you will get extremely misleading answers based on questionable, flawed measurements, which have been made with different requirements for how the measurements should be made.

If you find an old newspaper that has an article claiming that abnormal temperatures were measured one year somewhere and check this in Google, its AI will reject the article as false.

You are sitting there with countless old newspapers that confirm things, but Google AI denies them all as false.


I also remember a case I experienced in September 1997:
It was well over 30 degrees Celsius in my city, but if I search on Google this is flatly rejected - the authorities have ensured that this information must be removed, because it does not fit with current climate change policies.


Another example is Likes and how this is used:
A few years ago I was very active on Facebook and a member of many discussion groups.

I wrote many critical articles with extensive use of negative characters where I expressed my opposite opinion, but was still awarded the label "Super Supporter" by those I criticized..!

So I used the opposite Like, but this was registered as positive, and I was marketed as a supporter of something I was diametrically opposed to.


Both AI and Likes are based on statistical calculations, which indicates that the majority is right, while the reality is that most claims are made by people with average or lower IQs - those who are probably right are the approximately 2% of the population who have a higher IQ, but these are overrun by the majority.

I belong to the minority.

This reminds me of something I used to say "I am my own minority"



I was talking with #1 son lately and he was explaining how he's using AI at work (Technology, I understood some of it), in a variety of ways. He's finding it very useful, but commented that his colleagues aren't even the slightest bit interested in it though he thinks it could improve work practises and has shown examples. His main comment about it is to learn how ask, so you get the result you want.

I guess it will settle down, be useful for some things, not so much for others. At the moment the bad and the not so good is tainting what might be good about it.

My highlight with it is showing it the contents of my fridge and AI telling me what to have for dinner. Not so bad really.

Your #1 son obviously understands how AI is best used very well, when he says "To learn how to ask, so you get the result you want".
This is exactly how AI should be used, and that's how I use it too.

AI is a very useful tool when used correctly, and is especially useful for me when writing technical articles, because I lack a technical education - everything I write is based on random articles found in professional journals over many years and my own experiences.

So used correctly, AI is a useful mentoring tool, but requires the user to have some prior knowledge of the topic being asked.
