WOW, WOW & WOW !!!
For the first time since Kronos, I now experience a joy in playing that I have not experienced since.
I have now tried for 2.5 years to edit drum kits as they were on Kronos without any success, because the sound has become too hard and cold regardless of the edits.
I have never worked with the Sound Editor, because I did not know what to do.
Now when I worked with SF2 sounds I had imported and tried different edits beyond what was necessary and then tried the same edits on internal drum kits, I found out how I could make the sound more Kronos-like.
I have always thought that ambience could only be adjusted with the Drum Editor for some drums only, but found out that this can be done with all drum kits in the Sound Editor.
All drum kits can also be given extended ambience with the Sound Editor (ALL elements), which really brings the drum kit to life.
One of my reference recordings for drums for many years has been Moby Dick with Led Zeppelin (with John Bonham; a rhythmic genius), and I have burned many speaker units and amplifiers with this..!
By increasing the ambience for all elements in the Sound Editor, I find that the drums get some of the same life added, while internal unedited drum kits are dead and lifeless.
It's that damn simple.
Never again reverb on drums !
Ambience is the key to everything, just like for speakers, where HORN provides ambience, something regular speakers are not capable of to the same extent.
