PRODUCERS OF ARRANGERS AND SYNTHS CAN'T DO BUSINESS

It is strange to note that manufacturers spend enormous resources to design the perfect, then abandon it.

The examples are many, but let's start with Korg:

OASYS
OASYS was a revolution with 6 sound engines, Karma technology, BIG pads and the best keybed; Yamaha FS-E76.
Subsequent Kronos did indeed have 9 sound engines, Karma technology, NO pads and RH3 keybed.
Why did they leave out the pads ?
The RH3 keybed is good, but far from as good as the FS-E76.

The newest; Nautilus, also had 9 sound engines, NO Karma technology, NO pads and a very good keybed, but the FS-E76 is better.
In addition, Korg reduced the number of variations from 128 to only 4..!
And left out aftertouch, to later put a plaster on the wound by presenting an "upgraded" model with aftertouch.

The Pa series is far better followed up, but it's a shame that the Pa5X only has an average keybed - better than previous models (oops - the Pa1X had a better one..!)
Pa2X's keybed was far worse, while Pa3X and 4X had the same miserable and even worse keybed.
And the Pa1X had a better keybed than the Pa5X - I have one, and a direct test proves this.
And this was actually the 61 keys version..!

A good keybed is the most important of all !!!


Then there was Yamaha, then...
They developed the 9000 Pro, but later tried to convince us users that the Tyros1 was a significant upgrade (haha), continued with the Tyros2, 3, 4 and 5, to end up with the Genos 1 and 2.

Tyros1 probably had the best keybed (almost like OASYS), while the later ones in the series were average.
Genos1's keybed was about the same as Pa5X's - average.

I have the Tyros1, have had the Tyros4 and 5 as well as the Genos1, but the 9000 Pro stands out as superior to all with its Yamaha FS-E76 keybed, wonderfully open soundstage, superior mixing and the most sensitive buttons of all.
Shame on you Yamaha - haven't you learned anything in 25 years..?


I know less about Ketron, but Audya is famous for its quality, and as far as I know this has never been followed up.


Roland ?
They became famous for their G-800 and G-1000, but stopped and have left the arranger market.
They could have followed up with updated versions of those successes, but don't.


Korg seems to be the only ones making new versions of old famous models.

It is strange to note that the industry has otherwise found gold mines, but does not know how to extract the gold...
