DOES KORG NEED NEW SOUND ENGINEERS ?
I'm not a trained audio engineer, but I don't need to be either, because I have many decades of experience working with sound within HiFi, and have both very good equipment and very good ears.
I am shocked at how bad a job Korg has done with the Pa5X.
Several styles have strong audible distortion; in fact, so much so that clipping of the signal occurs.
This applies especially where several electric guitars and effects for these have been used, and here Korg shows great incompetence, as they maximize the levels for drums and perc to the max; 127.
Throughout, too many effects are used, and they are used too powerfully, so that when you try to add, for example, reverb to drums and perc, the soundscape collapses completely, especially at moderate settings of reverb.
The following work appears more and more as imperative:
All styles' average levels must be reduced to 70 to 80, and all Insert FX effects must be disabled.
Most effects are used to achieve a similarity to a song-based style, and this should be undesirable by a professional performer, as this makes styles less universal.
This is a development in a negative direction that I intend to oppose.
Everything has to be rebuilt from scratch, and effects are only assigned where they are necessary - bass, drums and perc and as little as possible more than this.
Trying to optimize styles that are already overworked is a hopeless task, and produces unexpected results all the time.
The consequence of this is that from now on I build all styles from scratch, because I want universal styles without all the damned effects that only destroy the sound image.
I wonder how long this will take…
