A VERY; VERY WEIRD EXPERIENCE OF MONITORING RESONANCES
My new MeloDavid full ranges in baffle horns have revealing qualities that I have never heard of before.
The moment I started adding acoustics to the styles, strange things happened - everything sounded perfectly OK in my Beyerdynamic T70 headsets (which are known as very neutral and suitable for monitoring).
But when I played through the horns, it revealed powerful resonances in several places in the frequency range.
I've experienced something of the same with several high-quality recordings, but the ones that I know are really good also sound really good, while the ones that have some unfortunate resonances come across clearly as less good.
The word analytical has acquired a new and unknown depth; I have previously had several components in my sound system with analytical properties, but never anything like the new full ranges.
This experience also comes as a shock to my Beyerdynamic headsets, which I thought were reliable as monitor headsets - they are not; at least not when it comes to editing that concerns acoustic resonances.
