MY EXPERIENCE WITH FX EFFECTS SO FAR

* There is no doubt that when these are used correctly, a far better result is achieved than without.

However, it turns out that the achieved result varies enormously from style to style, even if the same effects are used - with the same settings.
This places great demands on the user's knowledge of how different filters work, and how everything should actually sound.
Used incorrectly, the sound is effectively destroyed and worsened.

It is far easier to work only with EQ and Drum Editor.

I have a definite opinion that Korg's basic settings for most FX effects give too strong a boost, which results in it being easy to hear compression changes, which is something I am absolutely not excited about.

I am working with a theoretical model about finding a so-called zero point, from which the effect can be adjusted upwards.

It seems that a correctly selected Output Level for each selected effect is a key to avoid adverse compression effects.

For me personally I have been experimenting with effects it’s as much a learning experience as trial and error.

I think the use of an Eq as an insert effect gives you the ability to focus on specific sounds, even though you have the facility to use the Eq gain in the mixer tuning screen. 

But without actually knowing what the parameters do within the effects a lot of it is stabbing in the dark.

Whilst the use of a lot of reverb is good for creating large soundscapes in reality a lot less reverb is needed. 

Ive found the information from both you Chello and Robinez to be very helpful and take on board knowledge gained from you both. 

The thing is also with the styles they also have their own effects, and Eq gain levels set.

Would it not be better to start off with a clean slate with all effects turned off and levels of the style set at the same level.

I’m mostly using my ears to listen what changes are made as parameters are changed not so much the values.

Starting off with a clean slate is actually one of the most important things of all; to A/B test what you do all the time.
I always do this.

And it's always my ears that finally tell me if everything is OK or not - technical knowledge of parameters & values is a tool to get there faster.

I also try to visualize the room/stage and its musicians for each style.

I totally agree, experimenting with varied results. Korgs drums seem to carry to much treble and on some occasions overwhelm the style. 
Yet with the right editing your Capital Soul, and some others are master pieces you would think their is a template  to work from be interested in the results.

I have found a method that seems to work:
Drum Editor can be omitted if Hi-Hat, Perc Low, Perc High and SFX are given a boost in FX, while elements such as Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Tom and Cymbal should not be assigned FX as this does more harm than good.
Bass Drum and Cymbal in particular destroy the compressor's working conditions effectively.

Sometimes giving all FX works, but most of the time it doesn't.

Feel free to make a list of the styles you think are particularly good - if this matches my own, this will be of great help for my further work.

More testing shows that my Drum Editor processed styles can be additionally FXed, as long as the Output for FX is reduced.

Using the Drum Editor dramatically increases the level of detail for FX, and I have thus found a theoretical model that works.
