The feeling of a live band is in my opinion the most important thing of all.
To achieve this, the use of ambience on drums and perc is essential.
Korg has disabled all ambience on all styles by default, probably for the sake of mixing done by the user.

And it's interesting that you say "not to loud trumpet" for the melody, because almost everyone uses too much level for the melody part, and thus "the soloist kills the orchestra".

Years ago I joined Tyros and Genos keyboard workshops from Peter Baartmans and Michel Voncken. From these Yamaha demonstrators I learned that on Yamaha arranger keyboards by default all right hand voices have high or maximum volume.
They used an expression pedal and keep that almost all the time on around 70% and when needed press it fully to give nice volume expressions to the melody. This makes the total sound more professional.

Indeed many keyboard players play the melody always on that high default volume. I thinks this ruins the mix and make flagship arrangers such as the Pa5X and Genos 2 sound 'cheap'.

Agreed.
The default volume for right hand voices is generally set too high.

For Yamaha, this causes a particular problem:
The volume in the rhythm section will be too low no matter what you do, and this is because this is set to 70-80 (often 110), while Yamaha's system requires 64 to give an equal mixing opportunity in terms of volume between the left and right parts.

I also believe that there are 2 things that most demonstrators do wrong, and that is the level is too high in the right section and that the drums are barely audible - the sound image appears heavily masked, and whether they play on Pa5X or Genos 2 does not matter - it still sounds like the cheapest arranger..!
