Yamaha Tyros 4 - DEMONSTRATION
#1
The Tyros 4 is the keyboard I have.

On my Yamaha AR80 organ I could change VOICES making up STYLES .. and even DELETE STYLE PARTS and replace them with some of my own. Of course to do this you have to select a VOICE to change/use. The choices of voices in my AR80 were off a soundcard in the organ so were not those voices I was used to hearing when playing the organ. I suppose the reasoning was that as these were instruments playing in an accompanying ‘band’ there was no need to have the more sophisticated technology they used for the solo instruments they had created to use in the organ itself.

In this video below, David Cooper tells us that the Tyros 4 was one of the first keyboards where they used the Yamaha sounds in the STYLE section. I had already realised this as when choosing a STYLE VOICE to use in my Tyros 4 you selected it from the PRESET VOICE section of the keyboard .. ie. not from a separate soundcard. So how about Tyros, Tyros 2 and Tyros 3? Did they use a soundcard like my AR80 did?

I have done a Google Search about this and AI has come up with this:

No, the voices in Yamaha Tyros, Tyros 2, and Tyros 3 styles are not chosen from a separate “soundcard” in the way a PC would use one. Instead, they are generated by the keyboard's internal AWM Stereo Sampling tone generation technology. These voices are stored in the instrument's built-in memory and are deeply integrated into the style architecture to provide realistic accompaniment.

How STYLE VOICES work.

Internal Preset Voices: Styles primarily use the high-quality internal preset voices, such as MegaVoices, which are specifically designed to provide authentic instrumental nuances like guitar fret noise or brass slides within a backing track.

Super Articulation Technology: Starting with the Tyros 2, styles began utilizing Super Articulation (SA) voices, and the Tyros 3 introduced Super Articulation 2 (SA2) for even greater realism in wind and string instruments.

Legacy and Compatibility: Each model includes a "Legacy" section containing voices from previous Tyros versions to ensure that older styles still sound correct when played on newer hardware.
