Things we all know how to do with our keyboards
#10
6.  Split Points.

I like to have my Split Point at G2 (ie. ‘G2’ forms part of the chord I am playing with my left hand). Now I know most people have their Split Point at F#, but I play a lot of songs in G, and this often involves playing an A7. I include that top G in my chord so that when I am using a LEFT HAND VOICE, that G (the 7th note of the chord), being the top note, is predominant. I have also positioned a second Split Point for R3. If R3 is selected, then R1 and R2 sound up to this second Split Point, and R3 sounds on it’s own from that second Split Point to the top of the keyboard.

If R3 is not selected, then R1 and R2 run right up to the top of the keyboard anyway.

And if R2 is not selected either, then R1 runs right up to the top of the keyboard on it’s own.

Note that the second split point position for R3 is showing where I had set it (on A4) .. but it’s not operational until you actually select R3 as a voice you are going to use.

I must admit that I hadn’t realised this for quite some while, and thought that the R1 and R2 voices wouldn’t go higher than A4 because I had allocated from A4 upwards to R3. As my Tyros 4 is a 61 note keyboard I do need sometimes to play notes higher than G, so this feature is important. Don’t have R3 selected unless I know I am wanting to use it!

It's all about the music!
