Just a passing comment...My AudioTechnica headphones also produce 80Hz -120Hz upper bass BLOOM which I have to eliminate via EQ.
In my microphone selling days to Recording Studios, I did not like to see nearfield monitors standing directly on the rear of mixing desks, the desk reflections in effect were like increasing the size of the speakers front panel causing colouration.
These were so called Pro engineers !!!.
