Music Store "Professional" - Germany
#1
Exclamation
Music Store "Professional" - Germany

132 Euro is in itself a high price to pay for RAM for Korg Pa3X.
I became suspicious when I saw that it was stopped by Norwegian customs, and the suspicion was confirmed when I picked it up at Norway Post:

They should have almost 50 Euro extra for customs clearance.
Why has this happened?

Yes, because Music Store has packed the RAM chip in a large box, instead of in a small bag.
Normally this is packed in a small bag, and then the package goes around customs and straight home in the mailbox.

I thought such a big company knew this, but they are obviously amateurs.
Do not shop at this company; especially if you do not live in Germany.

Not that I would like to rub it because the timing of your purchase is not even relevant but this is EXACTLY one of the cases that is classic and for which I opened the
"purchase help" thread.

1. Things like memory ram cards there no need to buy new. They don't decay!
2. Someone should have bought it for cheap and sent it to you in a bag! and generic simple and small box

You would have received exactly what you were looking for for fraction of the cost

And excuse me, now that I see the package

What idiot sends such a tiny product in such a large box?

@elad

This RAM chip is almost impossible to obtain as used, because this is the only upgrade - there are only 256MB; no bigger.

The reason why small things are increasingly being packed in large boxes is that large stores use computer-controlled robot systems for all processing.

By increasing the minimum dimensions of boxes, it becomes very easy to get all items to fit, plus the risk of damage along the way is minimized.

It will also be cheaper for the store to buy fewer sizes.

A good example of this type of packaging is Norwegian Komplett, which is the largest in the country, and uses robotic systems for all processing of goods.
Their smallest box is exactly the same size as the one from the Music Store.

This is again a good example of how little intelligent artificial intelligence really is - customs and tax systems are not taken into account - all extra costs are imposed on the buyer, while the state earns maximum.

Control of the contents of the box also becomes easier when the box is much larger than the product itself.

This system uses huge amounts of unnecessary packaging, which does not fit well with the "green model" that the whole world is required to follow.

Chello, you're forgetting an important thing. Norway is not a member of the European Union. In that case, there is no free movement for goods and services for you. You will then have to pay additional taxes and duties. For us this is now also the case when we buy something in the UK. I had recently bought a score book in the UK and had to pay more in customs and VAT than the book originally cost. The UK wanted Brexit so badly and this is the result. I won't buy anything anymore. And what are many English companies doing now, because they naturally feel that in their turnover. They are now opening a branch on the European mainland.

@Louis

Correct - Norway is not a member of the EU, but has only one EEA membership, which only favors certain companies and the state.

I would still like to emphasize that taxes are avoided if an item from the EU is sent as a letter package, like my battery package to Pa3X from Germany.

The problem you mention with the UK and the fact that they are no longer members of the EU shows how unfair a sudden termination of a membership can be for those who trade - many companies have based their existence on an EU membership, and no longer have a livelihood.
It is therefore natural that these try to create their own system for survival.

We in Norway will have the same problem if the state withdraws from EEA cooperation - many companies will lose the basis for efficient trade, and risk bankruptcy.
