CRITICISM AND HOW IT SHOULD BE GIVEN
I have always been (criticized..!) for being too critical.
Many have repeatedly accused me of focusing only on the negative, and that I am never satisfied.
But what exactly is criticism ?
Criticism should be constructive, which means that even though criticism is initially a negatively charged assessment, all factors should be taken into account, and positive factors should be tried to be used to offset the negative ones.
The same principle is used when you are convicted of an illegal act - all factors should contribute to calculating the sentence.
In many cases, there are no mitigating circumstances, and this is also the case with criticism.
Criticism that is exclusively negative must still be considered constructive if an attempt has been made to find mitigating factors.
Criticism that is only based on negative factors is not constructive, but one-sided, and should not be taken seriously.
I always make critical assessments by first looking at negative conditions, then positive ones, and finally neutral ones.

Also it is worth noting that especially on forums and social media, criticism can be mis-interpreted as highly negative when it was not intended to be. That is the drawback of not communicating face to face with people where you cannot see facial expression and body language. In most cases though I think people do get an accurate picture of intent by the tone of the post.

You are absolutely right in what you say.
When I talk to someone face to face, they are never in doubt about what I mean, largely because I have a very clear facial expression and body language - my avatar is quite illustrative, lol.
I am very direct and assertive by nature, and am not afraid to speak and assert my opinions.
This has resulted in most admins for the largest forums banning me for life - I am banned to this day.
These circumstances are also a direct reason why this forum was established, because I wanted to give people a place where they can express their opinions without being persecuted and systematically opposed.
There are actually several members among us who belong to this "clan", and a few of them have repeatedly tried to tarnish my articles in this forum - without success.
For many years they ran extensive campaigns to destroy my name and reputation in all major forums, without giving me a chance to defend my opinions, as I was banned from commenting.
I actually see this as a gift, because they show their true face as unfit to run a forum, and gave me the opportunity to create a forum myself - the way I want it.

I am all for expressing opinions without fear of being banned. Being direct is fine too. I had not seen your name come up in other forums, but what you mention might have been some time ago. I recently started joining forums around 2021 when I got back into keyboards. I think many times there are always going to be contrarian opinions to any post, but as I think you may have mentioned in an earlier post, as long as the discussion is respectful that is good. It is also important to remember that keyboards and music are a fun topic, it's just a hobby for me, so it should be fun without too much animosity involved in the discussions.

This scenario happened a few years ago, yes.
I was a Global Moderator in a large forum from 2013 to November 2015, and for a long time used the name chellinoolmo, until the admin started calling me Chello, which it has been since.
An internal conflict led to the management demanding my removal, and the admin blacklisted me - not only in his forum, but in all major forums around the world.
Many of my early creations are still available illegally for download in several forums.
On December 5, 2015, I established my own forum, and invited many of the other forum's members to join.
I was subjected to persecution and negative mentions by other admins until about 2021, when a member of my forum (this forum) with some authority demanded that the most ongoing forum immediately stop this propaganda, and I was finally allowed to register as a member with ordinary rights again, even though I have never posted there again.
Other forums still do this propaganda when the opportunity arises, but things have calmed down considerably recently.
Most of our members who have been here for a while know which forums this applies to.
If you type chellinoolmo into Google Search, you will find some info, but most of it is no longer there, as admins have removed posts that could give them negative attention.

Possibly many people who give criticism are the same people who never think of giving thanks and praise for good service.

I think it all depends on what context the criticism is used in.
Constructive criticism is good as helps us develop and learn, but everyone looks at a picture differently and what is good for one is not good for another.
Sometimes criticism is taken out of context from what is was intended.
