WILL THE MODX M CRUSH ALL COMPETITORS ?

Prices for the MODX M models in Norway have now started to appear:

M6: 1129 GBP (16,573 NOK)
M7: 1501 GBP (20,257 NOK)
M8: 1683 GBP (22,713 NOK)

With prices as low as this, I predict that all other manufacturers will have great difficulty selling anything..!

Those who have an earlier model will also find that the value of this is greatly reduced, simply because the M series offers most of what the Montage does.

Here Yamaha has pulled off a stunt that could actually succeed.

Whether it will be M6, M7 or M8 I don't know yet.

I don't remember seeing anything like it.

This is a desperate stunt by Yamaha - I know the Montage M didn't sell as expected, but I'm pretty sure it sells in its new guise as the MODX M.

It is claimed that the MODX M and Montage M have almost identical hardware and capabilities, so I wonder WHERE the limitations are hidden.

I can only hope that it lives up to my expectations, but I know from experience that marketing is a deceitful process.

But everything indicates that this model will turn the market upside down, and that many will lose their market share.
We'll see if Yamaha manages to keep the place they are acquiring...

Now you're thinking the way I did with Kronos and Pa5X.

Korg did just that, but Kronos with its 9 sound engines is superior to Pa5X sonically.

Yamaha could (and should..?) do the same with Genos, but Genos doesn't have good enough hardware (worse than Pa5X).

A synth traditionally has multiple sound engines, and will always be better than an arranger.

But if Yamaha had upgraded Genos so that MODX could be integrated, they would have been able to create something that is even better than Pa5X and Event.
