Using Stereo Eq as Insert Effect in Korg Pa700

I know I have spoken before about eq’ing sounds up to know only being able to use the low, mid and high gain in the mixer tuning screen.

Having watched Qui ‘s video on his Pa5x piano sounds, I thought I would try this on my Korg Pa700.

Using the Stereo Eq filter as an Insert effect (on the pa700) you only have one for your upper and lower sounds. Even so applying this you main lead sound makes a huge difference. (I know I’ve said that a few times in the past). 

Even the pa700s sounds can get a huge boost with this.

I even experimented with other instruments and a big difference was made with those.

This is the professional way to edit sounds, effectively changing the sound to the way you want it.

I’ve always said about the piano sounds being muddy, but now but cutting the low frequencies it makes a whole lot of difference. A bit of a boost in the middle, then cut the hi frequencies a bit to give you a softer sounding piano. On a side note the Tyros4 also has a stereo Eq that you can use as an insert effect. So besides having the facility in voice set for just the low and high frequencies. Here you have a 3 band stereo Eq much the same as in the mixer / tuning Eq gain on the Korg Pa.

Piano sounds are generally muddy on all keyboards, also on the Pa5X in direct comparison with the Kronos.

The key to removing muddy sounds lies in boosting the mid frequency, and preferably cutting a little in the bottom and top as well.

This is the only right way to do this, and it took me years to figure this out - almost everyone does this wrong; I have done it too.

Incidentally if your using an electric guitar that you want to put through an amp in upper 1 you can still use the stereo Eq as an effect, but providing you only want reverb in your master effects 1, you can add the amp effect to master effects 2.
