The pitch of A
The Viennese piano builder Johann Andreas Stein, the leading piano maker in Vienna, was responsible for Mozart's pianos as well as Haydn's and Beethoven's - they probably all used 421,6 Hz.
Handel used 422,5 Hz.
Verdi used 432 - 435 Hz
440 Hz was chosen by The British Standards Institute as the international standard in 1939.
432 Hz is claimed by many to be the "correct" one, because scientific tests show that 432 Hz is the frequency of the heart / brain / earth / sun / water.
This does not imply correctness, because Astronomers at Stanford have recorded super sonic oscillations from the sun at around 5.964 GHz. They had to slow them down (change their pitch) by 42,000 times to accidentally hit the frequency of 142 Hz - and not 144 as claimed by some which would again bring us a frequency of A = 426 Hz.
Scientifically speaking, 426 Hz seems to be the most correct.
But is there any audible difference between these ?
YES.
I have spent some hours testing different acoustic instruments at all tunings:
I have tested each instrument separately with different tunings, and all sound less sharp and have a fuller sound at 426 Hz compared to all other frequencies.
So there is SOMETHING in the suggestion that 426 Hz is the most correct.
The difference is also more obvious at high levels (70-80 dB or more).

Nice to know I'm not alone in thinking this.
This sounds even better with an organ than a piano, by the way.
My ears say that 440 Hz gives too much resonance, while too low a frequency gives too little resonance and a dull sound, and too high a frequency gives too much resonance and shrillness.
426 Hz gives ideal resonance and a cleaner sound.
