THE MOST EXCITING SPEAKER PROJECT OF ALL TIME

THE MOST EXCITING SPEAKER PROJECT OF ALL TIME

I am now doing various tests to continue the project I started recently to make dipole membranes.

Stretching a plastic sheet over a multi-way speaker system has already proven to work beyond all expectations, as this "connects" all units to a single one, so that it sounds as if the sound is only coming from a single unit.

This solves a number of phase problems resulting from limited dispersion characteristics and unfavorable crossover frequencies.

I also have a theory as to why there is too little bass on speakers such as Apogee:
There is no rear cabinet wall, as there is no cabinet - the room functions as a cabinet.
The result will be the same as when you make a cabinet too big: The pressure will be too low, and the lower frequency (FS) as well.

My system consists of large baffles, to which I have mounted horns in front.

What happens if I install a plastic film at the front of the horn ?
The horn will then act as a cabinet; but more efficient than a transmission line cabinet.
What is particularly interesting is that the horn's volume is large enough to absorb low bass frequencies without breaking up the membrane.

It should therefore be possible to achieve a competent bass without all the problems of such a membrane which is a "passive" version of the one found on the Apogee, as it is driven by the membrane mounted in the baffle before the horn.

I would also like to think that the horn effect will be enhanced - it will be almost like extra Ambience.

It will be interesting to see (hear) if my theory is correct.  16
