ROLAND JUNO-D7 ORDERED
I finally got my Grandstage X refunded, and have now ordered a Roland Juno-D7.
Let's hope this is significantly better than the MODX M8 and Grandstage X.

Everything I have read states the MODX D6. D7. D8 are all the same with just the KeyBed changers.

Sorry again. You are correct...I have just rebooted my brain, hope it's not going to be one of those Ataxia morning.
The Juno-D appears to have a nice well thought unclutted out layout panel.

No problem, and I hope you avoid Ataxia - we need you fresh and alert..!
The Juno-D has a layout that I particularly like, because it is adapted to my use; as far as I can see, all menus are logically placed and easily accessible.
It is specifically intended for use at GIGs and songwriters.

Good luck with the D7 and I hope it meets your needs.
After you get a chance to explore it, I am curious about the selection of preset arps, rhythms and phrases that don't involve sequencing your own. Not expecting a synth like this to be an arranger, at all. But does it have some level of accompaniment (perhaps such as modern smooth jazz/ambient chill/EDM genres) that can be assigned to the left hand and the right hand voice handles melody. Just some thoughts.

In comparison, the MODX M has far more arps and phrases than the D7 (about 10 times as many..?) - but in return the D7 has about 300 rhythms or more - ready to use.
I would argue that the level of accompaniment on the D7 is higher than an arranger, because each part can be switched in or out (1 to 8 simultaneously), and the arp/phrases can be changed on each of them individually, much easier than on e.g. Pa5X.
Of course it is possible that I am being fooled again, and that this is more difficult than the videos show.
The MODX M's videos showed a way to play scenes that I found impossible to do - as I understand it, the user has to use the sequencer and create these themselves, which is not necessary with the D7.

MODX+ I recall had a rhythm pattern button you would just press and you get a list of ready made rhythm patterns to play along with. There may have been over 300 of those, but I just don't remember. The problem is when you want to get creative and combine an arp with a rhythm. They have drum performances buried inside arp performances and vice versa. It gets very cumbersome to clean that stuff up on the small 7 inch touchscreen. It seemed like the MODX interface was not intended to work very well on that small screen. Maybe that's why some used the John Melas editor on a PC. The preset performances on that keyboard are professionally done and I feel you have to be a great programmer on it to achieve that level. I better stop talking about MODX, I might have flashback nightmares :D
You are correct, MODX had I think they say over 10,000 arps. It is worth noting that many of those arps have file names with tags like Intro, Main etc so the actual number of different choices is a lot less than 10,000.
