Finally it arrived.
I have unpacked it, and prepared it for placement and connection.
It looks VERY nice, and the keybed is the best I have ever tried mechanically - better than OASYS..!

My review will be started immediately and completed as soon as possible.

The keybed was the one thing that I thought was reallr really good on the Juno that I had.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH

I first tested everything with the power OFF, and was a bit shocked to discover that the buttons in general are not particularly good; they are a bit too hard to activate.

The pads feel very imprecise and too hard, but worse: One button got stuck when I pressed them in turn..!
The joystick has no movement for down..!
It is therefore only 3 point based - left, right and up.
WHAT..?

The keybed immediately feels like the best I have tried, but when playing practically it gives an unpleasant feeling that the keys hit the bottom of the chassis, which is experienced as very uncomfortable and annoying.

Another thing: This synth does not have aftertouch, which should indicate that unwanted effects are avoided, but this is not the case, because different pressures give variations in the articulation of the sound, which I am absolutely not enthusiastic about.

A third thing is that it is not possible to play scenes with full accompaniment without first creating the sequences - there are no ready-made sequences..!

A fourth thing is that the layout is not logical at all, especially when it comes to pads - it feels even worse than the MODX M.


So I am not doing a complete test, simply because this synth is not good enough with its messy layout, bad buttons and a keybed that hits the bottom of the chassis, plus many sounds give unwanted effects when pressed differently.

This experience is the third negative in a short time, and proves that all demonstrators are bought and paid or do not know what they are doing, who can recommend products that do not meet the standards.

A brand new synth or arranger will not be considered, because none seem to be good enough, as they were before.


Maybe I will buy a Tyros 4 instead..?

As you say the reports on youtube has been faviorable.
It appears we can't trust anything we read.
Do you think it's worse than the MODX ?.

NEXT...Maybe a nice clean used NORD ?

Very surprising, yes - the Juno-D has received very good reviews, so I thought this was reliable.
I must admit that I am far more critical than most others are.

The MODX M is of a far better quality than the Juno-D, which sounds like a cheap Medeli.

Or maybe I should start knitting or buy an accordion again..1

But the accordion is even more critical, as many additional factors come into play.

Why Tyros4 and not Tyros5? Would you consider an SX900/920? Great little keyboard. Has most of the sounds of Tyros5. Keybed is not great though.

The Tyros 4 keybed is pretty good, and very easy to play.

Why Tyros4 and not Tyros5? Would you consider an SX900/920? Great little keyboard. Has most of the sounds of Tyros5. Keybed is not great though.

I have had a Tyros 5, but sold it immediately.
There is a big difference in the sounds from T4 to T5, and the T5 has a sharp sound that I don't like.

I have had newer models such as S-950, A-3000, DGX-670 and Genos, but I think the Tyros 4 is the best in terms of sounds.
Yamaha has had a negative development after the Tyros 4.

When it comes to creating styles from midi, Genos is the worst I have had; it was almost impossible to achieve reasonably good results, while the same styles played brilliantly with the Tyros 4.

The Korg Pa5X stands out, because this is better than all previous models - in every area.

The Tyros 4 is the absolute best for styles from midi - most midis work very well for styles - the Pa5X is more picky about the quality of the midi file, but provides the best quality of all when everything is right.

Sorry to hear the Roland did not live up to its expectations

I did not have mine that long either and quicky moved on to the now old Modx which compared to the Roland was a lot better apart from the rubbish keybed
