WHY KORG KRONOS IS SUPERIOR TO ALL OTHERS IN SOUND QUALITY

WHY KORG KRONOS IS SUPERIOR TO ALL OTHERS IN SOUND QUALITY

Kronos can use practically infinite samples, something no other can.

That's why demanding samples from Grand Pianos (and others) are much more authentic on Kronos than on OASYS.

The Korg Kronos employs a technology called Virtual Memory Technology (VMT).
VMT streams large samples directly from the high-speed internal SSD, bypassing the need to load them entirely into the limited physical RAM, allowing for massive, detailed sounds without massive RAM requirements.

Key Details on Kronos Memory Structure:

Physical RAM: The Kronos has dedicated physical RAM (typically 2GB–4GB depending on the version/upgrade) used for the operating system, system resources, and hosting smaller, frequently used samples.

SSD/VMT: Large sample libraries (such as those in the EXs series) are streamed from the internal SSD. Only the initial attack portion of a sample is loaded into RAM, while the remainder streams instantly from the drive, simulating a much larger RAM capacity.

Performance Impact: This hybrid approach enables fast loading times and supports large-scale, multisampled instruments. If samples were forced entirely into RAM, the capacity would be far more limited.

Upgrades: Users can upgrade the RAM for more loading space and add a second, larger SSD to expand capacity for sample storage.
