PA5X: SUITABLE USB STICKS

SUITABLE USB STICKS FOR PA5X

The vast majority of USB sticks get quite hot when used with the Pa5X.
This can damage the port with prolonged use, and it is my recommendation to use sticks that do not get hot.

Here are two that don't get hot:
Samsung 64GB USB 3.1
Allteq 64GB USB 3.0

I use a small usb extension with a usb plug and USB socket. I then I plug the lead into the front socket on the keyboard and my usb stick into the socket end of the usb extension - I have found this keeps heat at a minimum and also I am not continually plugging in / removing usb sticks directly into the keyboard socket.

Thanks for your solution to work around the problem.
This is a well-functioning solution, which also avoids wear and tear on the USB port.

Another solution is to use two SD cards, as I do.
These are also much faster.

On my pa700 I’ve always used a usb extension cable when u use a flash drive. Although now I just transfer content via the usb cable.

This only applies to the Pa5X, which is the only Pa model that uses USB 3.0

Since the Pa5X uses USB 3.0, it provides 5V power supply.
(The faster a storage drive is, the higher the working temperature).
