New Model Keyboard Sounds
#1
The problem with assessing sound is we are all accustomed to listening to digital voices, so anything new voice wise produced with up to date technology often to what we have become used to does not sound right.

Having worked in Sound and speaker manufacturers most of my working life,
(can't believe I was being paid for a job I loved).
A fair percentage of my working hours was spent going and listening to live instruments to refresh one's Ears & Brain.

The people who criticize a new keyboard sound are simply doing so because their ears/brain have been locked on to the sound of the keyboard they are used to playing and will not like the sound of the real instrument.

It’s rather like people saying what’s the best eq for my Genos, or Pa4x etc etc there is no real answer because the eq is dependent on so many parameters and what sounds great to you might not sound great to others.
General Music WK4, Technics Kn5000, Solton Ms60, Yamaha Psr K1, Tyros 4, Korg Pa50sd and Korg Pa700, Korg Pa5x Paas Mk2 Speaker and Yamaha Genos

@Graham

I support 100% everything you say, maybe a lot because I have a bit of the same background as you.
I have many years of experience in the development of speakers, and this has given greater joy than what playing an instrument gives.

One of the most important criteria for being able to criticize sound, means that we regularly update our ears / brain with real instruments and how these actually sound.
A direct comparison with any keyboard and a real instrument reveals very clearly the difference - the keyboard appears to be quite distant from reality.
The most extreme example must be drums - the dynamics of real drums are many times greater than what a keyboard / synth is capable of reproducing.

I know many musicians, and have many hours behind me as a participant in many of theirs exercises - I KNOW what drums should sound like.
Shared knowledge provides increased knowledge
