One of the largest music stores in Norway, Marios Musikk, has been the first to offer the option of buying new equipment by exchanging old equipment.



Here is what they themselves say about the concept:

In recent decades, Norway has had a very negative development in trade, and our legislation in general has been imposed by the EU due to our EEA cooperation.
We have had more than one new law imposed on us every single day since 1994.

Stores that sell used are often criminalized by the state and accused of selling stolen goods, and the number of such stores is almost non-existent.
In 1996, FINN.NO was established; a place where you can sell anything, but with many very unscrupulous actors (Read; scammers).

The vast majority of physical stores are run either by the state or religious organisations.
Many decades ago it was normal to trade in used for new, but the state's greed in the form of repeated demands for VAT for each transaction has made it economically impossible to do so, because the product is subject to 25% VAT each time it is traded.

I consider the EU and the EEA to be directly responsible for the fact that it has become this way; Norway is more adapted to the EU's regulations than what actual member states are.
As you understand I am opposed to everything the EU stands for and it should be abolished worldwide as it is thoroughly corrupt and rotten.

This has long been the case in Belgium and the Netherlands. If you buy a new instrument you can trade in your old one. The store will then check the condition of your instrument and give you a price. It is then up to the buyer to agree or refuse and sell it themselves. The store puts those instruments in full order and puts them up for sale as second hand.

When I bought the genos I got 2300 euros for my tyros 5.

Trade works as you say in most of Europe and the world, while in Norway it does not.

Many companies claim that they upgrade used instruments, but the only thing they usually do is add their own profit plus VAT.

I remember well an experience I had way back in 1998, when I bought my first keyboard.
I had an accordion that I traded in for NOK 1500, and this needed extensive service, which I notified.
The seller advised that the accordion would receive the necessary service before it was sold on.

A few days later I saw the accordion for sale for NOK 4500, and knew that service could not possibly have taken place, as there were no service workshops in the immediate vicinity.
I know very well how such a time-consuming service should be done, but I do not have the equipment for it, which very few have.
