I have been talking to James Tyros (James) about multitracking, and he has both a Genos 2 and a Korg Pa5X. He says that his Genos 2 does roughly the same as the Tyros 4 ie. it converts a WAV or MP3 into a .aud file .. and you carry on from there.
The Korg, on the other hand, cannot handle WAV files at all. They have to be MP3. And it doesn’t convert them into anything. The process of Multitracking on the Korg is all carried out with the MP3 file, and the finished product is an MP3 file.
The whole purpose of this topic is to show how musicians can collaborate with each other and contribute to a project they are working on. So James has downloaded the MP3 of Michael Row The Boat Ashore (with the BASS part ‘added’), put it into his Korg Pa5X and added a bit more to the song.
Have a listen to how this has turned out. Very much reminded me of the band I was in as the instruments that were not playing the melody were doing this sort of thing all the time. James has made my day!

Two different instruments; two different parts of the country; working together on a piece of music. This is not something that could have been done using MIDI.

It's all about the music!
