A spare Laptop being 6 years old hardware not compatible for Win11.
We decided to install one of the many FREE Linux versions, initially installed Ubuntu which was suggested for Linux first timers which worked fine, now we are running Linux Mint.
Mint Cinnamon installs with a few possibly needed programs.
Used RUFUS for making USB Bootable for installing.
Linux does take time to initially boot but once running is fast and smooth.
Interestingly, there is a Linux Ubuntu Studio.
Ubuntu Studio is an operating system for creative individuals in the areas of
Audio production, Video production, Graphics design, Photography, and Desktop publishing.
Of interest to me after Microsoft keeps throwing me OS updates every 5 minutes.
Linux any LTS versions run for 3 years before a new version is released.

Thanks for the best advice of the year.
Windows 11 is, in my opinion, one of the worst things ever invented, and I've been thinking of switching to another OS for a long time.
You reminded me that there are very good alternatives to Windows, and I will soon test Ubuntu Studio via a bootable USB stick and test it to see if it supports my hardware, which Windows does not fully.

Linux is the thing - shame Windows became the main OS of choice.
OASYS and Kronos actually have 2 Linux based motherboards with Intel processors.
This means that these models can be rebuilt and changed beyond recognition, which some have also done.

Incidentally the Sony PlayStation 3 was operated via a version of red hat Linux. Which is why when I got given one for my grandson, after jail breaking it. And accessing it transferring games or other data via Wi-Fi or Ethernet was so easy.
