I don't agree at all with everything Woody says - some are downright misleading.

I can tear apart what he says point by point, if anyone wants.

im not going to comment on video because theire is always bias, however having both i think its fiar to say its apples and oranges.

The Pa5x has in my opinion a better keybed, and much more premium look.

The technology is more advanced and in the right hands can achieve things the Genos cant.
The sounds strings and pianos are better the Brass ie Sax not as good
The learning curve on Pa5x much higher but more rewarding.
So on first glance a landslide victory, but with the Yamaha you have limitless expansions, Styles that are tailored for individual songs
Huge library of styles/sounds and a easier interface.
From experience yamaha to korg owners strugglle with the change and Vise Versa.

in my opinion Yamaha are falling behind ,but have a far bigger following

Like I always say the best arranger is the one that suites you the end user.
General Music WK4, Technics Kn5000, Solton Ms60, Yamaha Psr K1, Tyros 4, Korg Pa50sd and Korg Pa700, Korg Pa5x Paas Mk2 Speaker and Yamaha Genos

Woody is just the avarage arranger player (like myself).
Although I do delve into the OS of every keyboard I have owned to make it sound at it's best for my hearing.

Thanks Graham for putting that video up. What I really enjoyed about it was how Woody gets really ‘into’ playing his music. And what fantastic sounds he gets out of those keyboards .. particularly the Yamaha! I’m sure he must have spent some considerable time deciding what sounds he was going to use, and setting up all the volumes so the balance was spot on. You don’t get sounds like that just by pressing a button .. unless it's a REGISTRATION button of course! Hugh
It's all about the music!

Here are my reviews - no one asked for them, but they get them anyway.

BUILD QUALITY
Woody claims that the Pa5X is the clear winner here, but completely forgets that the buttons have black dots, and fit poorly in their frames, which means that they do not work properly after a while of use.

KEYBED
Pa5X: The 88 version has had many problems.
Pa5X 76: A white key got "plague" after a while - the surface crumbled.
The same "plague" had both the Technics KN-7000 and the Yamaha 9000 Pro.
The Genos's white keys got scratches after a few hours of playing.
And the Pa5X chassis's knurled surface is a nightmare to keep free of grease and dirt.

DISPLAY
The Pa5X's screen is the best I've tried; far better than the Genos.

FRONT PANEL
Genos more intuitive and friendly..??!
The Pa5X is the most intuitive to date, which Genos is not at all.

OPERATING SYSTEM
The Pa5X blows Genos apart in terms of everyday use and intuitive understanding.
I have done most advanced edits with the Pa5X WITHOUT reading the manual, which is impossible with Genos.

Woody says nothing about the Pa5X's amazing Drum Editor or how much easier it is to assign effects, or the superior sound quality of the Style Creator Bot compared to Genos's version.

It is also very difficult to get styles from previous models to work optimally with Genos, plus styles created with Style Works sound terrible regardless of edits.

The Genos's mixing quality is also terrible - as usual - while the Pa5X has a far better mixing that is mostly done neutrally correctly, so that it is easy to edit further.

The Pa5X also has a built-in automatic blocking for effects that do not match, which mostly works well.

One last thing:
Woody doesn't say anything about Genos 2 being basically like Genos, or that Pa5X is a significant upgrade from Pa4X.
Anyway, Pa5X appears to be the most intuitive and innovative arranger ever, which Genos 2 certainly is not.

I thought Woody was a serious demonstrator for a long time, but the way he presents features tricks people into buying something that doesn't exist - they have to make it themselves from scratch.

He is also "nice" to mention that he has asked to have a product sent to him, to cover up the fact that he was bought and paid for by the supplier.
If not, then he is incompetent.
His reviews are not to be trusted.

Many may think that Genos 2 can be fixed with future updates, but this will never happen, because the work will be far too extensive and expensive.

Buy a Tyros 4 instead.
