Do YOU have that little something that makes an audience cry ?
After watching a movie where an elderly mafia boss sang an opera, I was reminded that sometimes audiences can get so moved that they cry.
I experienced this myself when my father got married for the second time, and had engaged a local opera singer:
For the first time in my life, I was so moved by his performance that I cried.
It wasn't the lyrics, but THE WAY he performed the song, with a huge difference in dynamics from almost quiet to very loud.
A few times I've had people react like that when I've played, and when this has happened, I knew I was doing everything right.
This has sometimes happened when I played the accordion, but has only happened a few times with the keyboard.
The reason is very obvious to me, and it is that it takes a much greater level of empathy to play an accordion than a keyboard; and you have to do everything yourself.
A synth is better suited than an arranger for the same reason.
I hope that the MODX M lives up to my expectations.
