Forum Politics
#1
I have been following a post on another Forum (One dedicated to Yamaha) about someone who posted recordings with an arranger setup consisting of different makes. And because this of got pounced on, I’m thinking how many arranger players actually use multi manufacturer setups. I personally would embrace anyone’s recordings no matter what make of arranger(s) they use. Life’s too short. Thankfully this is an open forum which welcomes all makes and all abilities. No politics. Thanks Chello.

And thank you for seeing what I stand for, and appreciating this.

For many years I have annoyed many of the established "gurus" with my opinions, because I believe that there is no brand that is better than anything else - everyone has their strengths and weaknesses.
I have recently said, for example, that GEM may be the best, but I would definitely have found shortcomings with this as well, if I had tested one.

That's just how it is.

It must be allowed to think that brands such as Casio and Medeli (for example) may have qualities that surpass more established brands.

A former member was furious when I sold my T4 because he thought this was a forum for Yammies.
Strange type.
And excluded - we do not need members who try to force through political thoughts about brands and qualities.

I totally agree with whats said, we should be embracing different companies and styles, how do we compare otherwise ? I have a genos have a tyros and now a Roland Fantom7 which is completely different to the others they all have there strengths and weaknesses. However whats a concern with Yamaha is their lack of updates and a YEM system that ids full of bugs.Roland have updated the Fantom 4 times in the last year.
Yamaha have brought out the yamaha dgx 670 which again has features the more expensive the more expensive models havent got?
You get better style interpretations on this site than you do by the manufactures.
Lets encourage styles different keyboards

Well said. 7

I could have written a book about all the keyboards I've had, and how different they are - for better or worse.
As you say, Yamaha is infested with missing updates and bugs in their YEM, which are never fixed.
Their keyboards are among the best on the market - Genos has the best keybed I have played on (apart from the DGX series), very good sound, but extremely lousy mixing of style parts and OTS.
The DGX series has qualities that one would not think could be found at the price.
My A3000 is one of the best ever.

Ketron is also known for lack of follow-up updates and bugs, but is good at mixing.
Roland has none of the above problems, and so does Casio.
Korg is notorious for its lack of updates as well as poor follow-up service, but is solid on mixing and quality in general - the worst I have tried is actually Kronos - believe it ...
Fantastically good, but not without flaws and shortcomings.

Imagine if it was possible to gather the best from all models in one model; but this will probably never happen.
Converting styles from all of them will probably be the closest I come ...
