Following on from Chello posts about the lack of ambience in the styles.
As you know previously I have been experimenting with the use of dual reverb.
Reverb as we know reacts differently just as with the us of eq to the environment the Arranger is being played in.
If for example your playing at home with a reverb such a Hall with a lush soundscape, and the go an play using the same reverb in a large room the reverb would sound different depending on the acoustics of the room.
Ambience on the other hand is a reverb such as a room but with a very small pre delay and reverb time.
But other parameters such a eq and damping change the ambience of the reverb.
Ambience isn’t actually about how big the room the soundscape is but how the space is furnished, who or what’s in the space.
So if you set your ambient reverb in the master effects.
The more ambient reverb you send to a channel the further the sound will be pushed back, as it’s the pre delay which acts in a similar way to where a mic would be placed in relation to the instrument / sound.
As we all know as well Reverb is created by algorithms, but just because a preset says is a hall, by changing parameters such a the pre delay and reverb time you can create other spaces.
So what next. Instead of applying huge amounts of reverb just create an ambient reverb with a small pre delay and reverb time.
And just use small amounts of sends to the sounds you wish to apply to.
