Audya protected styles
#1
Hello group.
I bought a second hand audya and it has some styles with a blue dot next to their names. When I select those files the  display shows "Protected style".
Does exist any way to unprotect those styles? Some software or procefure?
Thank you
Best regards

Is this an Audya 5 or Audya 76 ?
I have never experienced this with my Audya 76, but I use an OS I have modified that is based on the original first.

Does it show "Protected style" when you try to edit ?
If so, you probably need to copy the style and put it in USER, and then you can edit it freely.

This may need to be done via the USB connection to the PC.

Hello Chello.
Thank you for your answer.
It's an Audya 76 with OS 5.4C.
I have reasons to bellive that the styles I refered are sytles from Ketron USB memory sticks that they sell on their site, because these styles aren't installed on the user styles memory. They are accessed as the other factory styles.
Best regards
José.

This is one of the reasons why I never buy styles or anything else from Ketron - you have to get a new code from Ketron every time you move the styles to another device.

This means that styles/sounds that are on an original USB stick can only be played on the keyboard they were purchased for.

And OS 5.4C contains more bugs than previous OS, but these can be circumvented by not using USB sticks with the ports in the front, and never leaving a stick in a port when transferring data to a PC, because the system becomes unstable and crashes.

If you use an SSD disk instead of a PATA disk, everything becomes even worse, because this pushes the system to maximum speed with the consequence that everything becomes more unstable than ever.

That's really anoying because I tested those styles on the original keyboard and they are pretty good...
About the 5.4c bugs can you provide more information on those, please?
I'm using the Audya intensivelly on the last 3 years and never noted a problem.
Best regards

I actually managed to build a new Audya 76 from a clean hard drive once, which is supposed to be impossible to do.

I used a special program to copy the original serial number to my new disk, and gained access to everything that was tied to this serial number.
Unfortunately, I later made an edit that AJAM Inc suggested, resulting in a crash, and I have not been able to repeat the procedures. I also do not remember the name of the program, and have not been able to find it again.

As for the bugs that occur with OS 5.4c, this is difficult to describe, because the keyboard becomes generally unstable, which means that many functions do not work and subsequently require a restart.

There were also major problems with Audio drums and their synchronization.

The fact that you have not experienced problems may indicate that you have been lucky and have obtained an Audya with better components - there is a huge difference between the individual models, and there are many different motherboards, although this is not stated by Ketron.

Many of the components used may be outdated versions that Ketron has removed from its spare parts range.
(Ajamsonic still sells one of these (SSD disk)).

For the same reason, I am very skeptical about buying a Ketron product.
