Arppegios on the ModxM
#1
One of the most appeling things about the Modxm is the amount of Appegios there are aviailable to use . this video shows how to get the most out of them and how to find and change existying appegios.

MODX is a really cool synth for its arpeggios. I think the video made it look very simple because the user already knew which arps he wanted to use. But if you don't know what you want I found it extremely time consuming to choose the right one. I played around with this for a year before selling it and switching to an arranger. The arpeggio system in MODX I found extremely complex. Especially when you want to add drum patterns along with arpeggios. Some arpeggio specific performances include drums, some do not, but you can add drums to them. Some drum performances can include arpeggios. Very confusing to wrap your head around in my opinion, especially when you start combining these performances to create your own custom one. Arps you don't want have to be removed etc.  It should have been designed better.

I aggre,

I have found that if you find that arp thats playing in the performance and them press catagorey it list all the aps for that instrrument, and you select a different instrument it will list all the available arps for that imstrument.

That aside I aggree an aranger keyboard is much quicker and easier to build up a song, but I bought the Modxm mostly for the voices as I am starting to get into Trance and electronic dance music ( at 78 years old ) god forbid , but its fun and different.

That's great that you are interested in electronic dance music at 78. One thing I noticed about trance music is many of the intros have these really beautiful synth pad tones and melodies before the main beat kicks in. I just turned 60 and still have an interest in what I might best describe as symphonic or orchestral electronic music. That genre description is probably one most have never heard of. An example of this I think is Jean Michel Jarre. Another composer who fits this category is from the UK, her name is Bekki Williams and it seems she is no longer producing work. Here is one example of her work. Perhaps the piece is a bit dated sounding but I like the fast synth arps that start midway through the video.
