8 MONTHS WITH STYLE CREATOR BOT - EXPERIENCES
Most users probably believe (and demand) that Style Creator Bot can convert midi to style with a keystroke, and that everything works as it should, if the midi file is of the highest quality.
That's not the case.
I have converted thousands of high-quality midi files, and hardly a single one has been error-free.
However, this is as expected and completely acceptable for me, who can fix most things anyway with Style Works.
I have now converted over 100 midi files to full-fledged styles, and this number is actually much higher, but I have only chosen the ones I like best.
Here are the challenges you will encounter when converting:
1: Intro 1 and Ending 1 are almost always incorrectly transposed, and you have to choose the right keys for all tracks in STYLE EDIT.
2: Many midi files (even high quality ones) have poorly sequenced parts, which means that correcting transposition does not work - the key is wrong regardless of the choice, because the sequence starts a little too early or too late, and thus the first bass beat is in the wrong key.
This can (in all cases) be easily fixed by creating the relevant part with Style Works, and the part can then be pasted into the style created with SCB.
All parts can be fixed in this way, and pasted into the SCB style.
3: Often MEL tracks are included in Variations (Mains), and these almost always have to be muted, because these do not work in the Neutral mode required for Mains - only very short Mains (1 to 2 bars) will work with MEL tracks.
This can also be easily fixed with Style Works.
So if you have no experience in correcting transpositions and also making external edits, you will have little or no enjoyment from SCB, and will create a lot of styles that contain serious errors and shortcomings.
I have also used Yamaha's Style to Midi a lot, and to date this has never managed to create a style with all style parts - there are always some missing.
Also, the sound is terrible regardless of the edits.
Despite the above-mentioned shortcomings, I would argue that Korg has really managed to make SCB as good as anyone else (better) on the market.
But be aware that most styles made with SCB that become available online are made by users who lack the necessary knowledge, and are thus useless without edits.
