Hi,
I would like to share some more styles that I have converted from Tyros 4/5 , mostly from instrumental and new age styles, but also some from MIDI (robot + tweaking).
I also added quick MP3 demos.
It seems that I'm trying to make my PA5X sound like my old Tyros4... but why not having some styles that I liked from my previous keyboard in my new one? (which I like much more by the way) :)
Best Regards!
Here is the drive link for all styles and MP3 DEMOS:
Thank you very much for giving us even more styles.
I myself have a fondness for the Tyros 4, and find many of its sounds and styles better than the equivalent on the Pa5X.
So I'm very happy to get everything that reminds me of the Tyros 4.
By the way, there is no problem with posting Mp3 demos - we have unlimited space if necessary, and I consider this case necessary.

As we can see, PA5X doesn't need to have a flat sound. I believe most of the original styles are flat because they are planned to be played on external amplifier with desired mixing, but to play at home, it's nice to adjust the styles to sound more like Yamahas, which means more reverb...
When I saw some comparison on youtube of Genos and PA5X most people say that Genos sounds better, but to me, is mainly becaise the use more reverb on styles and sounds.
Of course some SA2 are very unique and smooth, but many of the DNC2 of Korg sound more realistic to me while some SA2 sound a bit artificial, although nice to hear. Both are nice but I don't think I will ever return to Yamaha.

Thanks for a VERY interesting comment about the Pa5X versus the Yamaha.
I absolutely agree with everything you say.
The Pa5X is mixed more neutrally, which makes it easy to mix, and the sound library consists mostly of neutral sounds, while the Yamaha has a significant amount of natural ambience (Genuine) in the sounds themselves, which makes mixing difficult, because the sounds' inherent amount of ambience interferes with effects that are added later.
In my opinion, the Yamaha often has a bit too much reverb, which is very difficult to reduce if desired, while a Korg style can be made absolutely DRY with ease, which is a great advantage for further precise mixing.
I always use the Drum Editor to add Genuine Ambience to drums, and usually remove any artificial reverb if present.
Genos uses artificial reverb in addition, which many people think sounds good, but I am convinced that the Pa5X with Genuine Ambience on drums and artificial reverb on other sounds sounds much more natural.
Of the Yamahas I prefer the 9000 Pro, Tyros 4 and DGX-670, which have a more natural soundstage than other Yamahas.
The 9000 Pro has an open soundstage that even the Pa5X cannot match.
But all in all I will probably never go back to Yamaha, and will soon get my new Grandstage X - KORG FOREVER !

That is impressive. Your mp3 demos of the styles sound great. I have SX900 so I know all of these styles, but I went ahead and downloaded your conversions in case I wind up getting the PA5X.

Well said. I actually also added reverb on the drum, that can be removed if desired.
I will try doing as you said, adding ambience instead of reverb, and see the difference. Maybe I can get better results :)
I like to convert and adjust styles almost as much as I enjoy playing the songs.
I have many more "ongoing" conversions. Some sound very bad since the beggining and are more difficult. Also I intend to learn more about how to create guitar tracks or maybe hear the easest way is to hear many of the factory styles and select some suitable guitar tracks that can be "borrowed". St the moment I'm more focused on instrumental/cinematic styles. ✪epereirajle

Thank you Rich! Most of these styles I remember more or less how they sounded in my old Tyros that I sold almost 2 years ago, but I don't try to clone exactly how they sound in the Yamahas, instead I try to find best suitable sounds in the PA5X that works well with the style, so the style may be similar but with different instruments. But styles with special drumkit and with megavoices, they are more difficult. Fortunately I'm more interested in instrumental styles.

Eduardo,
Re-voicing from Yamaha to sounds that work better on PA5X makes sense. I too like instrumental styles. I do play some rock and pop tunes but tend to gravitate to ambient, electronic, cinematic, new age genre styles, of which there are less of in the Yamaha ecosystem. It sounds like you are happy in general with your PA5X.

I have learned how to add reverb professionally to drum kits, but I don't like the result compared to Genuine Ambience.
A standard reverb setup ruins the bass drum's attack, but even if the effect is adjusted so that it doesn't affect the bass drum, something negative happens to the bass drum's attack.
I also use LOW EQ for the bass drum with the Style Editor and MID EQ for all other active drum elements - sometimes several dB for MID EQ, because this also triggers the ambience.
You will easily see what I have done by studying a style I have edited.
Probably even better results can be achieved by adjusting the EQ less than I have done; I have chosen high values to demonstrate the difference.
I mostly only use artificial reverb on drums that have not recorded Genuine Ambience, such as Dance kits.
Several internal GM and XG Dance kits, however, have Genuine Ambience recorded and can be used instead of Factory drums.
GM and XG have a higher degree of Genuine Ambience than others.
When it comes to finding suitable guitar tracks from factory styles, the Pa5X's Dual Player comes into its own - by starting 2 styles at the same time and activating tempo lock, you can play one or more tracks at a time by marking mute/solo and using the slider, and easily and quickly find suitable tracks.

♔I and ✪Eduardo work very similarly, as we both look for the best suitable sounds on the Pa5X that work well with the style.
And he seems to be as excited about the Pa5X as I am.
Even though I have far more negative reviews about the Pa5X than anyone else I know of, the Pa5X still remains the world's best workstation to date with achievable results that no one else can match.
