Frustration
#1
Is it just me that is getting increasingly frustrated by Yamaha failing to do upgrades on their flagship Keyboards. One of my friends has ordered a CVP809 having had a Tyros 5 and then sx900. He has like a lot of us bought software from the likes of Strawberry Music etc etc. He has found the registrations do not work or RGT files from genos are not compatible.
I spoke at length to a Yamaha demonstrator asking why models like the DGX670 has a intuitive accompaniment and A5000 can record arpeggios on style maker.
Yet more expensive models haven`t.
So this its how it works the newer the model this is the latest format for RGT etc. So a genos cant play a 809 RGT but a SX900 can, bizarre.

So my thoughts on this are the Genos will devalue more than most models when they bring out the next model.
Why because the next model should be slightly cheaper and have all the new facilities of the newer models and eradicate the bugs that are in the genos.

This will leave it in no mans land.

They make YEM difficult to use, they d0nt allow styles between a lot of formats and voicing  isnt always compatible.

Yamaha needs to up their game in terms of looking after there customers and support

What`s your thoughts

just use Murray best program yamaha registration manager and your genos will play everything. It's a bit of work, but it's definitely worth it.

@Colin

I completely agree.
All industry seems to work as you describe; what you have bought is not updated - you have to buy new all the time to keep up with developments.
Yamaha is one of the worst, and the user is completely dependent on someone developing software to solve all compatibility issues.

Yamaha`s formats are a jungle of chaos, where it is not stated what fits with what.
I sold my Genos after a short time due to lack of compatibility back to Tyros4 - none of my self-produced styles for T4 worked satisfactorily.
Styles from previous models sounded awful - in general.

Creating styles with Style Works was almost impossible, as it was almost impossible to find substitute sounds on Genos - the sound was awful regardless of the choice of sounds.
Internal mixing of sounds and styles, OTS / RGT was worse than ever, only the S950 is worse.

The A3000 suffers from the same shortcomings as the Genos - only styles from the PSR 3000 give good results.

I wonder what in heaven's name Yamaha thinks of when they offer 76 keys on their cheapest models, while models like the A3000 do not get this.

A whole world of users of the PSR-A models have been calling for 76 keys for years, but are not heard.
The joystick on the PSR-A models is also far better than the one on the Genos, although the joystick on these models was developed many years earlier. They are actually the best on the market; better than Korg.
Genos' joystick is lousy.

Genos' touch screen is also not 100%, because it is impossible to calibrate it exactly; Even professional users have trouble hitting accurately.

Genos has a digital output, but there is no information about the resolution of this.

I have never experienced the problems described above with either Casio, Roland or Ketron.
Korg seems to go in the same direction as Yamaha, because Pa2X could play just about everything, so could Pa3X, while Pa4X gave terrible results with my Pa3X styles - nothing fit.

The time has come for other manufacturers to take over the arena - I for my part have had enough of both Yamaha and Korg.
