ADVANCED STEP 1 - Correction of misplaced markers

ADVANCED STEP 1
Correction of misplaced markers

This is an important addition to be able to take advantage of available midi files, as very many of these have misplaced markers, which results in the start time of all parts being wrong, which in turn results in all parts being out of step with each other - in short, such a style will not work properly.

A new starting point must be set for markers.

I have made an example with the midi file Down on the Corner, which has the error we are looking for.

Open Style Works, then open Song To Style Converter and the attached midi file.
This is how the values look automated by Style Works:

I have made it easier for you, and given you the correct values for Start and Length for Main A and Intro A, which look like this:

If you now (after first entering my values) press Main A so that it is played and at the same time look at Song Data, you will see that the values are obviously correct, but still the first bass beat is missing (remember to switch from Neutral to Playback before playing).

This needs to be corrected - the change is made only once, and will affect the entire midi file - so you do not need to repeat this action. It`s easy to do by opening > Edit Song, which is located between the floppy disk icons at the top.

Tap > Edit Song and this window will appear:

Now a value must be selected, but which one?

From experience I know that the error is due to a very small offset, and therefore I choose the lowest value, which is > 1/32 (arrow to the right).
It is important to understand that the offset causes the bass to occur too late, and logically this should mean that you should select < 1/32 (arrow to the left) - but you must always think the opposite when correcting time offsets.

So select > 1/32, press Execute and then Exit.

When you now play Main A by pressing it, the first bass beat is audible, and Intro A also becomes correct - this lasted a little too long with original settings.

This midi file has now been corrected, and can be used for further processing.
A little practice with this makes it easy to do.

I have attached the original file for this project, so you can do the same as I have done.
