Korg Pa5x tutorial: how to create arpeggiators and rythmic chord pads

On the korg pa5x you have 4 pad buttons where you can add your own patterns to it, in this tutorial we will create arpeggiator and rythmic chord patterns and learn how to use polymeter arpeggiators in the korg pa5x.

topics:
00:00 DEMO: Arpeggiator pads (with polymeters)
00:30 how to create an arpeggiator pad
08:18 what are polymeter arpeggiators
12:04 how to create polymeter arps in the pa5x
17:14 how to create rythmic chord pads
20:02 how to apply effects to pads and how to modify the sound
22:14 DEMO: full demo with 4 pads with arps and chords

The polymeter technique makes it possible to create much more interesting arpeggiators with different lengths than the standard style length, so we are using 3/4 5/4 patterns over a 4/4 style.

Very interesting.

I'm pulling the trigger on what you're doing at 11:17, and one name pops up:

King Crimson.
I've always had a taste for his song Discipline, which reminds a lot of what you're doing here.

An insanely good and useful tutorial.

I have actually used this technique when playing 2nd voice with others over 40 years ago.
My father asked me how I found these patterns, and I replied that they were a natural choice of notes from the notes of the chord - I just changed the order a bit.

The simple is often the best.
I see this as having endless uses especially in blues, funk and jazz, which I prefer.

Many thanks for showing how easy this is to do on the Pa5X.
