Good Morning. Class Registration is everyone here?

Start of another week.

When using arranger keyboards or if you’ve just purchased one it’s great just to pick out sounds that you want to play for your songs.

But it’s also worth getting to know more about your arranger keyboard(s) and what the particular model you own has to offer. In terms of effects, how much you can edit sounds and styles.

You may find your particular model doesn’t have all the bells and whistles or another model, that doesn’t mean that you can’t be creative.

One thing is to try an put change on your mindset to musicians before they all had the instruments and effects at there finger tips. It was a case of knowing what tools you have learn how to use them, be creative and if at all exploit them.

As part of the creative process do a some reverse engineering, for example if  your trying to create a particular sound do some research on YouTube what instruments are being used what effects, and the accoustics.

Try to strip everything back to its most basic and work from there.

If for example it’s a rock guitar used in by a particular artist such as Bon Jovi what sort of guitars did he use in a particular song, what sort of amp did he use effects pedals what were they?

You may not have the exact guitar in your instruments category strip it’s back what sort or a guitar is it accoustic, electric, steel string, nylon etc etc.

Your arranger may not have amp, pedal effects but you will possibly have delay, distortion, flanger etc see what effects you do have.

Usually inside each effect on your arrangers there are parameters that can also be changed.

It does seem long winded but Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Also remember try to put your own stamp on things you don’t have to be an exact copy of the song or sound your trying to recreate.

Don’t be afraid to experiment and most importantly have fun.
