I used to use an early version of Notation Composer but when attempting a new install after several years not using it it won't work. Something free, or at least with free upgrades after buying, would be nice. RE: Music Notation program wanted free - OrganPlayer - 11-28-2024 I also use this program when you reinstall your computer, and you want to use this program again, you have to pay for it and it costs 200 euros, you can not share it with someone you buy only for one computer I have the 200 Euro pay because this is the best program for me, I have the Notation composer 4, but it is a lot of money for me the money word, but I understand that you are looking for a cheaper product, but that is not easy, the same as my Pdf program every year I have to pay for this program Also very expensive, but for me the only program that can do the job for me But it is expensive I have to say RE: Music Notation program wanted free - Robinez - 11-28-2024 I use musescore 4.0 , it's free and absolutely fantastic. https://musescore.org/en RE: Music Notation program wanted free - aprilla - 11-28-2024 (11-28-2024, 01:35 AM)OrganPlayer Wrote: I also use this program when you reinstall your computer, and you want to use this program again, you have to pay for it and it costs 200 euros, you can not share it with someone you buy only for one computer Yes, it is expensive. When I used it before it was work related so I didn't mind the cost so much, it was working for me and did a great job. But now it's just for my hobby/pleasure so difficult to justify, I mainly want it just for notating parts of midi files. Many many years before I used Noteworthy Composer (paid by cheque in the mail and received on a floppy disc!), it was a bit more simple than Composer though it did the job..... I might see how that works now. Thanks for your input ![]() (11-28-2024, 11:22 AM)Robinez Wrote: I use musescore 4.0 , it's free and absolutely fantastic. Yes. I might have to give this one another try. I did try it before years ago, probably v1 or v2, and for some reason wasn't a fan. I just want something for notating selected tracks of midi files, but I just didn't get along with the program. I definitely should try it again now, give it another chance and try to forget how I felt about it back then. Thanks Robinez
RE: Music Notation program wanted free - Graham UK - 11-28-2024 I now use Musescore Ver3 I find its simpler than Ver4. To replace my BIAB (BandInABoBox) I'm testing Free JJazzLab RE: Music Notation program wanted free - aprilla - 11-28-2024 Quote:I now use Musescore Ver3 I find its simpler than Ver4. Musescore seems to be taking over the notation world! It's really popular, I'll have to try it.... I've been reading some of the forum comments and v3 seemed to be preferred over v4, but maybe those bugs are sorted out by now. Is it OK for getting notation from midi like Notation Composer did? I still have an old copy of BIAB (from a friend of a friend), the one with Comic Sans font, I've not used it in years so not sure if it'll work. It might. Let us know what you think of JJazzLab when you have an opinion. Thanks Graham

The reason I liked early version of BIAB was for its excellent clear A4 Lead Sheet Prints. JJazzLab it appears to be mainly for producing backing tracks which I no longer do. |
