WINDOWS 11 IS GETTING EVEN WORSE - Chello - 02-22-2026 WINDOWS 11 IS GETTING EVEN WORSE Updates happen almost every day, and it's impossible to avoid installing them - they happen automatically when you turn on your PC. This is bad, but Microsoft has taken it a step further: Many programs can no longer be installed because the system says the file contains malware. Disabling all security doesn't help, because the system immediately removes the file from the disk. On my Win 7 PC, I can install the same programs without disabling anything. Maybe I should go back to Win 10... RE: WINDOWS 11 IS GETTING EVEN WORSE - bazt - 02-23-2026 HI Chello I use a programme called "WUB" or Windows Update Blocker. I installed it on the tablet I use for displaying PDF's when playing keyboard. I learned the hard way.... When you buy a "NO Name " tablet with a cut down system, windows update Bricked the tablet. No way to resort to previous system either. All the drivers were upated and nothing worked. BSOD... couldn't restore it. They must have put bespoke drivers on the tablet. Hope this is of help to you Regards Barrie T PS: It's free !! I'm willing to try anything to block Microsoft, because they always make sure that software doesn't work. I had a case today where the midi driver for the Pa5X stopped working, and I had a lot of work to get it working again. This happened as a result of disabling all security apps - when I enabled them again, the driver didn't work. Sick Microsoft; I wish them all possible misery ! RE: WINDOWS 11 IS GETTING EVEN WORSE - Chello - 05-27-2026 WUB (Windows Update Blocker) does not block Win Update Although Win Update is no longer visibly active, I have found several evidences that updates are being made, even with WUB installed. Maybe this works with other Win 11 versions, but it does not work with my Home version. I use RUFUS free on to put Win11 OS onto USB which I can use if a complete new Win11 install is required. My method below I have not had a problem for past 2 years. Then Download & install WINTOYS free. Run WINTOYS select HEALTH. Scroll down and you will see SYSTEM UPDATES now select SECURITY. Now when you do a Win update it will only update SECURITY and leave the main Win 11 as it is. (Microsoft keep throwing WIN features that nobody asked for.) For past 2 years I have been running Win11 23H2 and only installing Security and don't get a problem. I use HASLEO BACKUP FREE to Save Image make a Restore if needed. This reminds me a bit of my old setup, which consisted of installing Win11 and all the necessary programs as normal, and cloning the installation(s) to another disk. This has worked well for years, and if Win11 did something unwanted, it was very quick to switch to the other disk. Your way is a good alternative. I will probably soon switch to Intel i9 with Win11 Pro, because AMD processors are unsuitable for HiFi due to their high noise level. Any Intel processor gives better results than my current AMD Ryzen, and are practically noise-free. |
