INTI-ILLIMANI

In connection with my posting of my midi files from vArranger, I came across this name - Inti-Illimani.

This brought back some memories, as I have practiced several times with them when they were on the Norwegian tour, which they were several times in the 90`s.

One of my best friends, a Chilean, knew them from Chile, and they always came by him when they were in Norway.

They played pan flutes and acoustic guitars - everything from the smallest to the largest - the largest pan flutes were notorious for destroying the lungs of the performer, and could lead to death.

The guitars were also from the smallest to gigantic.

They lacked a percussion player, which I learned to play from them - I also played the accordion.

Unfortunately, I can't find any video that shows what they were best at - there was an enormous dynamic with the large pan flutes and the large guitars, and there were close to 10 performers lined up.

It was very challenging to follow their changing tempo and unusual chord choices, but very engaging and educational.
